About FOSA Therapy

The FOSA Therapy(also known as TMJ Bite Stabilizer Therapy) is a treatment for patients with TMD symptoms, severely worn dentition, mobile teeth and/or bone loss and /or recession due to occlusal trauma and much more. The Therapy uses F.A.C.E Orthopedic Stabilizing Appliance(TMJ Bite Stabilizer) which is a removable, hard acrylic appliance that eliminates all occlusal prematurities and interferences to all eccentric movements. The FOSA Therapy was originally developed by Dr. Thomas Basta and Dr. Jerry Preiner and taught to dentists at the Foundation for Advanced Continuing Education(F.A.C.E.) in Burlingame, California. The FOSA technique has been further refined by Dr. David S. Han, Dr. Yiannis Vlahos and Dr. Sacha Dybnis.

With a track record of over forty years, the F.O.S.A. therapy has consistently given positive results to dental health. Patients love and appreciate the benefits of FOSA and refer their friends and family to doctors who can prescribe and deliver FOSA.

The FOSA therapy can benefit patients in following manners:

  1. The FOSA therapy can treat patients with extremely sensitive teeth, severely worn dentition, mobile teeth and/or bone loss and /or recession due to occlusal trauma.
  2. The FOSA therapy can effectively bring symptomatic relief to TMD symptoms like reduced ability to open or close the mouth, jaw pain of varying degrees, jaw joint noises like clicking, popping and grating sound, jaw locking and an intermittent ringing in the ears
  3. The FOSA therapy can successfully treat severe headaches, biting or chewing discomfort, dull and aching pain in the face caused by a bad bite or misalignment of teeth (malocclusion.)
  4.  The FOSA therapy can be utilized as a diagnostic tool for restorative dentistry. It is used for stabilization of the condyles before embarking on complex restorative treatment.
  5. The FOSA therapy effectively protects Esthetic Porcelain and Resin restorations from the ravages of nocturnal Bruxing and Clenching.

Dr. David S. Han, continuously modifying and refining the FOSA techniques, teaches dentists at FACE. He introduced the FOSA techniques at the Table Clinic during the General Assembly of American Academy of Restorative Dentistry in Chicago, February 2008 and Annual Meeting of International Academy of Gnathology, Tucson, Arizona in 2009 . F.A.C.E. offers the F.O.S.A Technical Training Course (Director, David S.Han D.D.S.) to doctors practicing General Dentistry, Cosmetic Dentistry, Periodontics, Endodontics and Orthodontics in the world.

Dr. David S. Han, Dr. Yiannis Vlahos and Dr. Sacha Dybnis are convinced that the the FOSA therapy will greatly benefit both dentists and their patients.
